What is Tulips for Tapping?
Tulips for Tapping is a seasonal pop up event held in rural Norfolk, usually near the Sandringham Estate. It is not just a beautiful place to visit, it also raises funds for a local hospice, so every ticket supports an important cause.
Each year, around 9 million tulips are planted, with the exact location shifting slightly. The event typically runs between mid April and early May, depending entirely on when the flowers bloom.

What to Expect When You Visit
Walking into the fields for the first time feels surreal. Rows of tulips stretch as far as you can see, and it is one of those places that photos do not quite capture properly.
Although it is a popular event, the space is so large that it never felt too crowded. We were able to find quieter spots for photos and take everything in at our own pace. If you are planning to take photos, it is worth dressing up a little, but make sure you wear practical shoes as the ground can be muddy and uneven.

Tickets and Booking Information
Tickets are the trickiest part of planning your visit because everything is quite last minute. They usually go on sale around ten days before the event opens, and dates are only confirmed once the tulips are ready. Weekend slots tend to sell out quickly, so it is worth keeping a close eye on announcements and setting a reminder. To stay in the loop, you can follow Norfolk Tulips on social media, and we will also share updates on our Facebook page and in our newsletter, so it is definitely worth signing up here so you do not miss out.
Tickets are for timed entry slots of around 45 minutes and in 2026 cost £10 per person, with a maximum purchase of six tickets per booking, plus a £0.50 booking fee. Children’s tickets for ages 5 to 16 are £5 each, and under 5s go free and do not require a ticket. Parking was available for an additional £2.50.
Tickets are non refundable and non-transferable, so it is best to book carefully.

How to Get There
It is a good idea to arrive about fifteen minutes early, as there can be a short queue to get in.
Driving is the easiest option, and directions are provided when you book. Allow at least 20 minutes from King’s Lynn or one hour if you are coming from Norwich. Parking is well organised, even though it takes place in a field.
If you are travelling by train, you can head to King’s Lynn and then take a taxi to the site. Mobile signal can be patchy, so it is worth keeping any key details saved in advance.

What to Wear and Practical Tips
When it comes to what to wear, bright colours or flowy outfits work beautifully against the tulips if you are planning photos. Practical footwear is essential as conditions underfoot can be muddy.
It is also worth saving your tickets and directions in advance due to the limited signal.
Facilities onsite are basic, with portable toilets available but no running water, and the event runs whatever the weather so it is best to come prepared.
Only assistance dogs are permitted onsite.

Accessibility Information
The event is open to everyone, including those using wheelchairs or pushchairs, but the terrain can be uneven and conditions vary depending on the weather. While you may not be able to go down the tulip rows themselves, you can still enjoy the views from the ends of the rows and take in the experience.

Food and Drink Options Nearby
There are usually a selection of food and drink vendors onsite offering simple options like coffee, ice cream, and fish and chips. Picnics are also allowed if you would prefer to bring your own food, although these are not permitted in the car park.
If you would prefer a proper meal nearby, there are some excellent local options including The Ffolkes in Hillington and The Dabbling Duck in Great Massingham, both of which are well worth a visit. A little further out in Snettisham, you will also find The Rose and Crown and The Old Store, which are both great choices.
